"I'm still me."
Evie wakes in a care home she does not recognise. To her, she is sometimes twenty, sometimes fourteen, sometimes thirty — her mind slipping unpredictably through the ages of her life. The present dissolves as she insists she must go home, cook dinner for her daughter, or find her mother.
Through fleeting glimpses beyond her bedroom window, the outside world continues steadily while Evie's inner world fractures and reforms. When her daughter visits, Evie sees her not as a child grown, but as her own mother. Time bends. Memory slips.
Frightened by unfamiliar sounds in the corridor, Evie retreats further into confusion — until a care worker named Daniel enters quietly. Rather than correcting her reality, he meets her within it — offering tea, warmth, and the simple invitation to speak about the mother she longs for. In Daniel's presence, Evie finds a rare island of calm.
I Am Evie is a compassionate portrait of dementia from the inside out — honouring those who live with it, and the small, profoundly human acts of care that restore dignity within confusion.
